Customized Marketing Collateral for Children's Event Reaches Thousands of Parents
Ahead of the Renton Children’s Business Fair in Downtown Renton, the event organizer enlisted the Renton Downtown Partnership to create marketing materials and spread the word about the event. As part of the Summer Sundays at Legacy Square series, the fair brought together young entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses and connect with the community.
I was responsible for creating a promotional flyer for the event. After researching the web for design inspiration, I created the graphic elements from scratch using Adobe Photoshop. I then brought the design into Canva to arrange the text and finalize the overall layout. Once the flyer was completed, I submitted it to the event organizer for review and approval before hitting the distribution stage.
Once the event organizer approved the flyer, I took the next step of getting it in front of the right audience. I registered for and used Peachjar, a digital platform that allows school districts to distribute approved flyers, announcements, and community resources directly to families through email and online flyer boards.
I did run into one challenge: because the event was held during summer break, the Renton School District was not accepting flyer submissions through Peachjar. Rather than let that stop the campaign, I identified the neighboring Kent School District as an alternative and submitted the flyer through its platform.
Peachjar had its own review and approval process, which took some time, but the flyer was ultimately approved and distributed just in time for the event. The campaign generated nearly 15,000 impressions across five Kent School District schools, helping increase awareness of the fair among local families.
Rowell - Wow, you have been very productive. Thank you so much for working on reaching out to Peachjar. I appreciate all the work you put in for this. The flyer looks AMAZING. I am looking forward to the event. I am so excited.
